ive just sent out a new mail out of postcards, fingers crossed. im currently working on my next image for a t shirt design competition.

this is my new table, and it’s part of the reason why the election image was so late in coming. for quite some time i had been working on an old wonky wobbly dinning table, it wasn’t working out. i had been dreaming of my ultimate drawing table, a work station that had everything i needed within arms reach and for now this is it! its been about three or four years in the design stage and is the next stage in my ultimate drawing table. so one sunny day on the way back from tescos, i finally snapped and decided enough was enough i needed to actually build it, i stopped a scaffolding company and asked how much it would cost to buy some scaffolding poles. after some haggling i managed to buy 42 ft worth of steel scaffolding for £20. i carried it home, cut it up with an angle grinder and put it together with the scaffolding joints i bought online. the top comes from ikea and so does the shelf. its got a useful glass panel on the right side so i can use it as a light box. the skateboard is just a handy foot rest and the basket ball is for playing basket ball.
in the original design (which was originally inspired by the image below of a mans lego table) i did want to cover the table legs in lego so it would be a strong stable version of the photo.
i started to collect lego bricks so i would have something close to the 6000 i needed to work with, but at this stage it wont be viable to encase the table in lego, so ill have to wait until i can construct something lighter and thinner before i can do that (maybe by welding together some aluminum bars and then screwing the top down). until then i will keep collecting the lego.
this is the small amount of lego i have collected over many birthday’s and christmases, and on the desk is the light box i constructed with lego to use in the interim.

this is my new piece of work based on the uk parliamentary election 2010. the image represents an unknown person removing a gordon brown mask. he wears a balaclava because i believe when you vote for mps you are voting for the lesser of the evils. in other words we never know who or what we are voting for, its a personality contest. for this piece of work i wanted to maintain the integrity of my work but introduce colour, i have done this by adding in the colours of the three main political parties red for labour, blue for conservative and yellow for liberal democrat. there are also three ribbons hanging from the rosette rather than the normal two.

well it has been quite some time since i last posted up some work. so here it is, jobs this way. it is a comment on the number of people that have lost their jobs to the recession, and how the government expects to get them back in to work. the idea is that if the government paid people to direct other people to where jobs were the number of unemployed people would drop significantly because for every job there would be at least one person giving directions to it. i chose to have a construction worker holding the sign as the construction industry has been hit hard during the recession. some work in colour coming soon.

this is a quick illustration i did to have a go at some more editorial type work. its a response to an article about third hand smoke published on tuesday, 9 february. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8503870.stm . i decided to take this quite literally by having three hands holding a cigarette, that being the third hand and the smoke being the smoke. i tried to use babies hands because they are the ones that are most likely to be affected by this new form of smoking related illness, but i’m not sure if they just look like fat hands? and im unsure about the lighter being there. anyway here it is.
i haven’t decided what my next piece might be but im tempted by the news that the bnp have to admit non white citizens into the organisation, so it might be something about that.

as promised here is my first landscape. it’s not a picturesque image of the country side, but an amalgamation of everything i see in a london high street. i had intended to draw a toddler tied up outside by it’s baby reigns like a dog, but thought that would be better as an image in itself.

just a quick one to say i’ve updated the toolbar so that i can have drop down menus which should make it easier to get to what you want to more quickly. this in time will also help me to categorise my work as i venture into editorial pieces, skateboard designs, personal work etc. enjoy.
